Important Message about COVID-19

UPDATE 03/23/2020

Behavioral Health and Wellness Centers (Watertown and Lowville locations) – Both clinics are committed to providing a safe and welcoming environment for all of our patients, staff and community members. While we are remaining open and accessible to the public during normal, regular business hours, please note that there are some operating changes currently taking place at both locations. All services moving forward will be provided via phone and/or video conferencing; you can expect a phone call around your regularly scheduled appointment time from your provider/therapist. We understand that there will be some exceptions to this change to include any walk-in crisis/five-day appointments. You will receive notification if your appointment will be via phone or in person. If you are unsure whether you should report to the clinic, please feel free to call our clinic; we remain staffed with reception and clinicians so that we can continue to provide care to all of our patients. Please know that if you do arrive on site for any reason, our reception staff will be screening all patients to ensure safety to all.  Please make every attempt to not bring additional family/friends with you or they will be asked to remain in the car.

At TLS, we are committed to your care and for the uninterrupted continuation of services as much as possible during the COVID-19 crisis. We are operating on a “Business as usual” basis, while monitoring all recommendations from the Department of Health (DOH), Office of Mental Health (OMH), and the Center for Disease Control (CDC). We are placing a ban on visitors to our community residences as a protective precaution for our residents and staff, and are restricting access to our clinic to only those scheduled for appointments, with a request that family members or those accompanying wait in their vehicles.

We ask that if you are showing any symptoms (cough, fever, shortness of breath), if you have travelled to any of the major national or international hotspots, or have had contact with someone with possible or confirmed COVID-19, that you do not enter the building, but instead contact our staff for further instructions. Should you need to cancel or reschedule your therapy or medication appointments, please call and our staff will diligently work to accommodate those changes.

If you develop emergency symptoms (difficulty breathing, disorientation or inability to wake up, persistent pain in the chest, or bluish lips or face), contact or go to your emergency medical provider immediately.

If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us at (315) 782-1777 (Watertown), or (315) 376-5450 (Lowville).

Transitional Living Services of Northern New York

Transitional Living Services of Northern New York (TLS) is a private not-for-profit agency which was incorporated in 1977 to establish residential services for individuals in need of psychiatric, rehabilitative support who were unable to live independently in the community.

Since 1977 our agency has expanded and now provides services to children, adolescents and adults. TLS’ primary goal is to assist people to live in the least restrictive setting possible. This goal is accomplished through varying levels of support.

Everything it does should focus on providing excellent care – the best available and always getting better.

Excellent care can only be provided by caring, compassionate, trusting, respectful, and hopeful people. TLS wants its staff to be people with these qualities and wants to be an organization that fosters these qualities.

The care such people deliver will be:

  • Person-Centered
  • Strength based
  • Culturally sensitive
  • Individualized
  • Evidence based
  • Empowering
  • Caring/Compassionate
  • Respectful/Dignified
  • Responsive
  • Hopeful
